Ariel is the fourth princess in the Disney Princesses line-up and the title character of Ariel: The Little Mermaid. She is the first non-human princess and the first princess with a rebellious personality. Daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena is the seventh born child and she is living in Atlantica of an underwater kingdom named Merfolk. She has a long red hair, a green mermaid tail, blue eyes, and a purple bikini top and is also, the first princess who had her own child, a little princess called Melody. In the Ariel: The Little Mermaid story, she fell in love with Prince Eric who is a human being reason why Ariel wanted to be human. In the movie, she has a best friend which is yellow with blue strips fish and his name is Flounder.

They have a lot of adventures together and even when Ariel is in danger, Flounder tries to save her and to hide her blunders from her father which is a very protective parent. For that reason, King Triton has an advisor, and anthropomorphic crab called Sebastian which is always keeping an eye on Ariel. Ariel: The Little Mermaid shows us the story of a little mermaid, a kind, and caring princess, a rebellious teenager, a curious girl who is always in trouble because of her personality. She likes to help everybody around her even the sea witch called Ursula, an octopus lady who wants to lead the sea reason why is always trying to sabotage King Triton and his family. Ariel, being fascinated by the human world is often in search of human objects and sometimes she is standing on a rock from where she is following the human world.

There was the place where she met Prince Eric and she fell in love with him trying to do anything to be with him. King Triton forbade her to have any contact with humans so when she fell in love with the prince her father was upset and he punished her not to leave from the palace. Ariel was so in love that she escaped from the palace and she goes to Ursula to make a deal with her, which, consists of losing her voice but getting legs to be a human being. Of course that, Ursula had a hidden plan so she cursed Ariel and if she dons ”t  obtain ”the kiss of true love” in three days from her beloved Eric, Ariel will be the property of Ursula forever. When the transformation of Ariel was ready she was found naked, by her friends Flounder and Sebastian and because she cannot breathe or swim, the took her out of the water.

There, Prince Eric found her and took her to his castle where, Ariel was close to the kiss of true love but Ursula, stopped it with her tricks. After that, to avoid the kiss, Ursula transformed into a human, a beautiful girl named Vanessa and tried to make Prince Eric marry her. Ariel knowing that Vanessa is Ursula stopped the wedding and Eric kissed her, Ariel being transformed back in mermaid but Ursula took her in the water before the transformation was ready. In fact, the plan made by Ursula has the scope to steal the power from King Triton so, when they arrived in the water King Triton and Sebastian were waiting for them trying to kill Ursula. In the battle, Ariel was trapped at the bottom of the whirlpool, moment when Ursula was about to destroy her but, Prince Eric arrived just in time to kill the witch.

After Ursula died, the curse was broken, the peace was back and Ariel with Prince Eric was ready to live their happily ever after love story. In the story Ariel: The Little Mermaid 2, the princess is now queen of Eric”s kingdom and also is the mother of Melody, a little girl who instead of her mother was in love with the sea, wanting to explore more of the underwater world. The new villain, Ursula”s sister, Morgana wanted revenge so, Ariel and Eric decided to keep Melody away from the sea by building a large wall to separate the castle from the sea. Melody, a rebellious girl like her mother, visits Morgana who transforms her into a mermaid with the condition that Melody hast steal the trident from King Triton.

When Melody was stealing the trident, Ariel saw her and tried to make her give it back but Morgana captures Melody. For the rescue of Melody was a battle where, in the end, King Triton has received the trident back and punished Morgana by sending her in a block of ice to the bottom of the Ocean.
