For example, make sure not to fall into pits, as well as the electric spikes that are put as traps, and avoid the robots shooting at you.

You only have three lives per level, and losing them all means having to start the level from scratch. To open the door at the end of a level you have to first move over the switch before it, simple as that. Reach it, open the door, then exit to the next level, and escape in the two minutes to win the game!
